France Cargo International (FCI) were established in 1989 and have been specialising in project cargo since their inception. They have been a valuable PCN member since February 2012.

FCI have recently completed a project cargo job involving the transportation of 5 agricultural machines each weighing 45.4tns with dimensions of 8.6 x 3.3 x 4.5m. The machines were specifically Raptor self-propelled field sprayers and were moved from France to Xiamen (China). The first stage of the journey from the south of France to the seaport of Antwerp in Belgium turned out to be a particularly big challenge.

Managing Director, Denis Mandil states; "FCI successfully handled this project which would otherwise only be feasible for the very biggest service providers. The difficulty arose in finding a vehicle which was able to accommodate the machines whose wheels are over 3m wide. We were informed that some of our competitors which were previously contacted were unable to come up with a solution. However, FCI arranged for a low-loading truck to be enforced with metal joints on either side to house the wide machines and to cope with their huge weight. With this solution, we were able to carry out the necessary road haulage operation. FCI also pre-arranged the customs formalities in France which allowed for a quick loading of the units onto a conventional vessel bound for China as photographed below.

Whatever the project, we are confident in our abilities to source a suitable solution. Please contact us with any requirements.
