The first phase of the construction will cover 8.9km with 14 stations and is expected to be finished in 14 months along with dedicated roads for the tram system. State-of-the-art, low-floor, modern trams will be used taking advantage of new technology - the 1st application of a new ground power system. The trams will have an average speed of 50-60km/hr with a maximum of 70km/hr.

Ashley Kwan of the Oversea Marketing Department at InterMax states; "The 2 trams arrived in the Guangdong Xinsha RoRo Port for loading and stacking in the harbour''s front area. After arranging customs clearance and commodities inspections, the official formalities related to the delivery were completed and our operations specialists with vehicles & equipment arrived to prepare the trams for transportation. Once everything was in place, the trams were smoothly moved on 2 trucks which were accompanied by support vehicles on the journey to Zhuhai. The cargo arrived safely and our experts used our own special equipment on the unloading platform to carefully transfer the trams to the ground track. Our clients were very satisfied with the delivery and the services of InterMax."
